MSI Laptops 1st to be certified by Intel and HTC for VR
MSI has been hard at work the last quarter. During the period, they have released a number of different tech all attempting to cement the firms position in the gaming hardware arena. Today, MSI released a statement that a series of laptops are the first to be certified by HTC and Intel.
There are currently five of them certified and optimized for the HTC Vive:
- GT725 6QF Dominator Pro G 29th Anniversary Edition
- GT725 6QF Dragon Edition G 29th Anniversary Edition
- GT725 6QF Dominator Pro G Heroes Special Edition
- GT80S 6QF Titan SLI 29th Anniversary Edition
- GT80S 6QF Titan SLI Heroes Special Edition
The first three options in that list feature NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 980, with the GT80S offering two GTX 980s in SLI. On its official blog, MSI said that it has worked with “key VR players” to set up a VR lab that optimizes hardware for virtual reality headsets.
HTC Vive is so far the most demanding VR device yet provides the most immersive VR experience. The hardware standard required to run HTC Vive smoothly is therefore much critical than VR devices. Working closely with HTC from the very first beginning, MSI gaming notebooks are now the only HTC Vive certified gaming laptops one can find in the market.
For smooth and immersive VR experience, both the graphics card and the processor are important. MSI is the first and so far the only brand featuring Intel VR technology which will further optimize the VR experience.
MSI is quick to note that while their notebooks are the first to be certified, any computer running GTX 980M is capable of powering any of the existing VR units.
