McDonald’s is betting on greasy tablets at tableside
There are only so many iterations of a new hamburger that you can do over a 50+ year period. Knowing that means that other alternative ways have to be employed to capture an audience that is “hamburgered out.” Bring in coffee, breakfast, salads and more and you a scrambling effort to stay relevant. Especially in a society where “fast food” reputation is giving way to fast casual and more.
Someone over at McDonald’s UK division thought it would be the next great thing to add Samsung Tablets to tables for patrons to access the internet, play games, get your social media on and more. It’s been deemed: Experience of the future.
Is it a good idea to put a tablet where people eating greasy hamburgers and greasy fries are going to be touching the same screen as each other thousands of times per day? Are people going to use them when they see nothing but grease and ketchup all over the screen? McDonald’s thinks so and will be rolling out the “Experience the future” sometime soon.
